Free Webinar on Fall Safety in Roofing April 16

Registration is open for a free webinar, Fall Prevention & Protection in the Roofing Industry, conducted by the Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR) on April 16.

Falls are the leading cause of death in construction, but roofers are at an even greater risk of falling than those in other trades. In 2017, roofers experienced 35.9 deaths per 100,000 employees, more than 10 times the rate of all construction occupations combined.

The OSHA-NIOSH-CPWR National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls and the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) are working to improve these numbers by increasing employer and worker awareness and understanding of fall hazards and how to address them.

During the hour-long webinar, beginning at 1 p.m. EDT on Thursday, April 16, participants will learn from experts about some of the specific considerations roofing contractors and workers need to take into account when planning, training, and executing fall prevention measures, as well as what to do in the event that a fall does occur on the jobsite.

Speakers on the webinar include:

  • Scott Ketcham, Director, OSHA Directorate of Construction
  • Thomas Shanahan, CAE, VP Enterprise Risk Management and Executive Education, NRCA
  • Harry Dietz, Director, Enterprise Risk Management, NRCA
  • Rich Trewyn, Director, Enterprise Risk Management, NRCA

If you missed CPWR’s previous fall-related webinar – a general Falls Q&A Panel with members of the ANSI Z359 committee – it can be viewed in full on YouTube.

Don’t forget that the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls is May 4-8. Visit stopconstructionfalls.com for more information.
