Our History

Building in some of the most prestigious Hill Country neighborhoods for 25 years, the family-owned custom home builder, John Merritt Homes, is headquartered in Boerne, Texas. John Merritt who founded the company was succeeded by his daugther, Maggie, who is now President and Owner since in 2014 when John retired.

John Merritt Homes values the quality of construction and the quality of the builder-client relationship.

Being the single point of contact for prospects and clients, Maggie guides each through the process of lot selection and analysis, architectural planning and specification development. Using a woman’s eye for detail and finishes, she assists clients in balancing a budget with a uniquely designed home, while providing exceptional quality assurance.

About the Builder

With a BS degree in Construction Science and Animal Science from Texas A&M University, Maggie Merritt McCarthy is a second-generation custom home builder. Following graduation, she began working for JMH as a field superintendent progressing through several positions culminating in succeeding her father, John, as President in 2014. Maggie is active in CBUSA Custom Builder’s Network and in Builder’s 20, a nation-wide custom builder mentoring group. With three active young children and a barn full of horses, she understands the varied needs of families, including those with unique accommodations as her eldest child has individualistic needs. Maggie’s family is active in church and the Boerne community. Driven by honesty and integrity, she commits to making the home building experience a team effort that is rewarding and full of fond memories.
